Annual Fire Hydrant Maintenance

Annual Fire Hydrant Maintenance

The City of Longwood routinely tests fire hydrants in our community. This testing is designed to capture static and flow pressure readings to discover any potential fire hydrant performance issues for corrective action. In addition, these fire hydrant inspections include maintenance such as lubrication, painting and/or removal of vegetation to ensure that fire hydrants will safely respond to emergency personnel.
R & M Service Solutions will be conducting these services beginning the week of 2/27/2017 and throughout the month of March.

It should be noted that it is common to experience a slight decline in water quality immediately after fire hydrant testing has occurred. This is the result of flowing large quantities of water through the water main which loosens harmless sediment that may become visible in your home when running your water faucets. This problem will occur for a short period of time and can be corrected by simply running your water faucets for several minutes.
