Seminole County Emergency Management is closely monitoring the progress of Hurricane Matthew currently circulating in the Caribbean. Residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates. As Emergency Management and first response personnel prepare for possible impacts, families and businesses should use this opportunity to review emergency plans and inventories. Here are some things to consider:

Make a Plan:
Prepare to evacuate if you live in a mobile, manufactured, or live in a flood zone. Identify where you will evacuate and make arrangements
Persons with medical needs should register with their local emergency management office if planning to go to a Special Needs shelter
Make a list all medications and medical information

Prepare Around the Home:
Keep trees and shrubbery trimmed.
Clear loose and clogged rain gutters and downspouts.
Review insurance policies, take photos of your home, and make household inventory (include receipts, serial numbers, and purchase dates). Place these papers in a water proof container.

Get a Kit: Restock your Family Emergency Disaster Kit.

Stay Informed: Purchase electrical w/battery back-up weather radio, portable radio, and consider signing up for one of the electronic text notification systems provided by the local emergency management office.
